Carmel Valley

This was our view from the Dodds' household in the morning--is that even fair? ;) We spent 2 nights here with our friends, enjoyed a lot of Thanksgiving leftovers, and I think I slept on a bed that was made from a fluffy cloud. Big props to the Dodds' and their cozy home that has this massive view that looks like a screensaver and for welcoming us into their home.

Other than drooling over these beautiful landscapes, today was a big day for Kristin and Greg. Today was the day they found the venue that they will be getting married at. They had looked at a few other places earlier in the week, but nothing compared to Holman Ranch. We took some photos, but they clearly do not do it justice--clearly!

Knowing Kristin and from hearing of what she imagines for her wedding, this just surpasses it all. Holman Ranch is beautiful in it's own way with it's rolling hills, vineyards, and architecture. Of course this place wasn't just handed to them on a silver platter. The six of us carpooled over to the Tasting Room where we all received a free tasting while we waited to hear about what dates were available. November 17, 2012. This is what they wanted, and I must say that "17" has a nice ring to it. We are biased though since we were also married on the 17th. The only thing with this date is that there was another couple who also wanted the date. So what better thing to do than go about town, have some lunch and drink some wine :) (This story has a happy ending..I promise)

If you are ever in Carmel Valley, you MUST stop by Toast. They make awesome Pancakes and string fries..they also have cute little succulents on the tables, and I am a sucker for those.

After lunch we were off to Parsonage! This is Kristin and Greg's go-to favorite (well..one of their favorites) tasting room to come to when they are in town.

Note the wide silly eyes and nervous hands in the pockets...at this point we were still waiting to hear news.

At this point we were told that they are giving the other couple 24 hours to respond, and if they don't hear anything than the date is theirs to take. I personally think everyone handled the waiting game well..especially the almost bride and groom.
Later that afternoon, the four of us drove into Downtown Carmel-By-The-Sea. This is the Carmel that I know and have been to. Not to forget this is where Donny proposed to me a year ago :) We spent the afternoon snapping photos of our favorite couple--which I will feature on the next blog--and grabbed some Mexican food after wandering around the town shops. Here's a little sneak peek though..

That wave is unreal...

I think I have said a few times how dark it gets here at night and it was a perfect opportunity to take some long exposure shots--all of these are unedited. Ridiculous, I know! Donny, Greg, and myself spent an hour outside doing this--this might not be your definition of "fun", but we are all geeky so it's ok :)

Read the next blog to find out if Kristin and Greg got the venue and to see some fun Engagement photos!
